JAL and BA operate codeshare arrangements on 23 routes connecting London with 23 other European cities, and on 8 routes between Tokyo (Narita) and 7 destinations within Japan and internationally.
In addition to this both members of the oneworld alliance will begin to market each other's services between Tokyo and London (Heathrow). JAL and BA will place their respective flight indicators on the daily service they each operate between London and Tokyo's Narita airport as well as on BA's five weekly flights to/from Tokyo's city gateway at Haneda. Between they will offer customers 19 weekly flights between the two cities.
Customers now have the option of flying JAL one-way and BA the other, creating an itinerary that suits their needs, JAL said in a statement today. The airline says there will be fares never before available for such a combination. Historically, customers would have to buy the highest tier (Normal Fares) for an itinerary involving one-way sectors on both airlines, but from 1 October, this will be possible with all aligned fares.
Reservations and ticketing will begin tomorrow, 5 September 2012.
